"Choose only one master - nature" Rembrandt
If we start paying attention to small things every day I am sure we will find pockets of joy everywhere: I am always delighted to see different flower shapes like Sweet Peas with their beautiful colors and intriguing shapes, the way Gladiolus flower bloom, the edible Nasturtium flowers with their unique leaves or the Poinsettia, which flowers bloom during Christmas season and cluster above red, pink, white or cream leafy bracts.
This workshop is focused on how to paint delicate, colorful, and slightly abstract flowers on a blended background: I will explore a different background, lighter than usual or without any background sometimes so we will pay more attention to the shapes of the flowers. Participants can use my demos for holidays cards as it’s a holiday season for many.
A Poinsettia demo is included, very loose with almost no background too. I will also paint the fifth demo on the second day, a small composition with candles and Christmas balls: it’s an excellent subject to study reflection. The metallic ball works like a gold or silver vase in still life. It’s an extra demo for all participants.
This workshop is a two days format too: the second day will be a mentoring session. You can send one painting to my email from December 13 to 16 (by morning). I will clear your questions and provide some feedback about your paintings on December 16 (second session).
The last two years have been a tough test of resilience so let’s celebrate a brighter and better future painting colorful flowers!
