"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer" Albert Camus
- Would you like to improve your still life painting?
- Do you know how to set up a successful still life composition?
- How can we suggest a lace tablecloth and enhance the composition without overworking everything?
- Do you know how to depict winter in your pantings?
- Would you like to paint snow landscapes using the white of the paper only?
- Do you know how to represent different tree shapes?
- Would you like to loosen up your floral painting?
- Would you like to paint unusual flower colors and textures in watercolor?
What is the main subject of this new online workshop? In my opinion the most beautiful white in watercolor is the white of the paper so this workshop is about saving the white of the paper and planning ahead which areas will remain untouched.
The first demo will be a mixing of hellebores, also known as “Rose de Noel” or "Christmas Rose": it’s a beautiful flower, found in different colors, with different textures that bloom in the snow. Their particular pistils are a great opportunity to work with the white of the paper.
I will also demonstrate an atmospheric winter landscape: I will talk about composition, effective brush strokes, how to suggest different trees, depth and, how I paint snow just saving the white of the paper.
The main demo will be a vase with flowers and a white lace tablecloth: I want to show a loose interpretation of the tablecloth and work with positive and negative spaces as the lace will be the be painted with the white of the paper. I will talk about composition, how to connect all still-life elements and how to avoid an overworked still life.
This workshop is a two days format too: the second day will be a mentoring session. I will clear your questions and provide some feedback about your paintings but I will also demonstrate one more painting in the second session: a small holly berry with snow (I need to add a challenge here too), an extra demo to celebrate the holiday spirit with my friends.
So…let’s get together into the Holiday Spirit with Art!?
