“Maybe money can’t buy happiness, but it can get you a nice little villa in Tuscany, and that’s close enough for me.” (L. Greiman)
Let’s paint this beautiful part of Italy together?
The region of Tuscany embodies what we think as classic Italy: historic walled towns, stunning countryside with vineyards, olive groves and cypress trees, small villages perched on top of symmetrical hills, sunflowers and poppy fields and museums and monuments everywhere, just to mention a few things.
Geraniums, the main flower found in many Italian windows and doors, the perfect rows of cypress trees landscapes in Val d’Orcia and the charming medieval hilltop villages are the chosen subjects for my workshop about Tuscany, Italy.
Flowers (the foundation of my technique), Landscapes and my Architectural paintings with flowers and shadows effects are included in this workshop schedule.
I will start with Geranium anatomy, explaining in details how to draw it. I will paint two Geranium demonstrations: wet on dry, more detailed and, wet on wet with more blending effects so you will understand the difference between both approaches.
The third demo will be a quick landscapes with Tuscan buildings, cypress and atmospheric effects.
The fourth demonstration will be a view of a small medieval village with a few flower pots and greens. I show how understand the local colors, how to represent geraniums in a small scale, light and shadow effects to enhance your composition and, I will talk about composition and how to add a Tuscan mood to your paintings.
I also want to introduce a new workshop format: two sessions. The first one (3:30) is going to be a teaching session with all demos, explanations, etc as usual and the second one (1:15) will be a review/critique session.
I have been teaching all over the world for the last 20 years. I strongly believe that my mentorship experience can help you to realize your own potential as an artist so my second session (critique session) will be developed to maximize your learning experience. I will demonstrate what could be improved in your paintings. It’s a live session based on clearing questions.
After the first session (Aug 3) you will have 2 days to paint something. You can send one painting to me until Aug 6 (morning). On Aug 6 we will have another meeting and I will show you what can be improved in all participants paintings. It’s not only an individual critique, I will show you, best alternatives for your paintings (background, color mixing, composition, etc) using my watercolor paper/ brushes and paints and you can also ask me questions about the whole painting process. I want to maximize my feedback, I want that you experience a live mentoring session.
I highly recommend the second session....but of course you don’t have to take part in the second session. You don’t have to paint anything. If you want you can just take part and watch my critique. It’s up to you.
