“The composition is the organized sum of the interior functions of every part of the work.” W. Kandinsky
This workshop is focused on Provence, the beautiful and scenic southeastern of France but also on Compositional Choices.
Provence is also well known for its “painter light”: the local color and mood have been seducing writers and artists like Chagall, Picasso, Matisse, Cezanne, and Vincent Van Gogh. It’s a paradise for any visual artist.
I spent part of the summer in Provence, I took almost 5000 photos, and now I want to share with you how I simplify, edit, and include only what is necessary for the success of the painting.
What is important in each reference? Values or colors?
How can we edit the photo by just moving things around, cropping, or moving things around?
We will talk about Composition during the second Episode: we will paint Lavenders in detail (the iconic flower from Provence), two Picturesque Corners in Roussillon, and Bonnieux and Cherries from Venasque.
Composition, Flowers, Urban landscapes, and Still Life are the subjects of this workshop.
