“The object of art is not to reproduce reality but to create a reality of the same intensity” A. Giacometti
What can be more challenging than creating powerful darks in watercolor without using black pigment or overworking your compositions with muddy and muted color mixings?
This new workshop is focused on floral painting and how to represent two different vases: a dark Chinese porcelain vase with dahlias and a still life composition with peonies and copper.
I want to demonstrate, step by step how to create beautiful darks and how to suggest a black (or almost black) porcelain surface: I will show the best color mixings and color alternatives for rich darks. The same mixing process will be shown to demonstrate the copper piece: effective color mixings to suggest an old metal piece.
The flowers included in this workshop are dahlias and peonies: two iconic flowers with multiple petals, textures, and different colors. We will understand how to represent them loosely and fast.
So… Join my new watercolor journey! Let’s understand together how to set up two successful floral arrangements!
