“Once the impression is captured, they declare their role finished” J.A.Castagnary
It’s springtime in the Northern Hemisphere and in a few months, Summer will arrive with its luxury greenery and bright and more colorful flowers and plants so my new workshop is focused on flower fields and how to frame the subject in the most aesthetically pleasing way.
I want to demonstrate how to simplify the complex elements of the landscape, capturing the flower fields quickly using small strokes of various colors beside each other to create an effect of the desired color and capture the impressionist effect of light and movement.
The same flower will be painted in different scales/proportions: I will demonstrate the same flower near and far so a we will understand together how to insert flowers in a landscape composition.
I will demonstrate 8-10 small sketches with flower field compositional choices: we will practice skies, shades of green, landscape brush strokes, landscape backgrounds, atmospheric perspective, negative painting, grass, foliage, trees, and background buildings. Each sketch will have a purpose.
What else? I think I want to achieve ambitious goals in this workshop: a quick demo is also included, a 5-6-minute demo. I will set a time limit, and show how to portray something in an impressionist way. Each participant is welcome to send his/her five-minute painting to my email and will receive my feedback about it by email. It’s an exercise about taking the essentials of each subject.
