"My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece” (Claude Monet)
Hello fellow artists! Welcome to Monet’s Garden!
And welcome to the fourth episode of Monet's Garden in Giverny: note that all flowers and landscapes are different from Episodes 1,2 and 3.
One of the world’s most beautiful gardens, Claude Monet’s Garden and House in Giverny, France is the main subject of this new online workshop.
His garden was a source of inspiration to him and is still a feast for any artist’s senses: there are many exceptional flowers like irises, peonies, daffodils, primroses, delphiniums, foxgloves, sunflowers, roses, tulips, clematis among others.
There’s an amazing Japanese garden too, subject of his water lily and Japanese bridge paintings and the famous Clos Normand that leads to Monet’s house, covered by metallic arches and lined with nasturtiums, roses and another flowers.
I have been to Giverny many times, it’s part of my background as a watercolor artist, the garden’s colors and diversity has strongly influenced my approach to loose and spontaneous florals so I‘d love to share with you my experience.
This time I want to paint another iconic flower to me: rhododendron, a beautiful leafed shrub with round clusters of white, pink, red or purple blooms. They can be seen in Giverny in May/June.
I will also include a detail of Monet’s House (door or window), with many flower suggestions in front of it like the purple allium flowers, one of my favorite flower colors.
The main demo will be the Water Lily Pond but this time I will add a boat, by the way, this subject inspired one of Monet’s famous painting, The Boat at Giverny.
Let’s visit Giverny and find out what inspired Monet?!
