"Painting is the passage from the chaos of the emotions to the order of the possible” Balthus
My new workshop is still focused on painting different fruits and flowers but this time, instead of painting the skin they live in only, I want to depict the incredibly rich visual language of what lies beneath the skin. It will be a challenge as the subjects are visually very appealing.
It’s the last workshop of the year so I want to offer a visual feast to everyone! We will explore the different textures of a couple of fruits: the pomegranate and its deep-red, opulent, and juicy seeds; the kiwi flesh and its amazing green color and delicate pattern; the fig and its reddish collection of jammy filaments inside and the chestnut and its waterproof shell with flexible spikes.
There is a lot of information to be shared about these 4 subjects described above: there are reflective surfaces (the pomegranate seeds), geometrical patterns (the kiwi), lines and calligraphical elements (the chestnut shell), and flesh consistency (the delicate fig).
Some of them are part of the holiday tradition in many countries (the pomegranates and the chestnuts, for example), but I also want to offer two extra small flower demos (maybe they will be painted in the second session): the iconic and classical poinsettia and some roses. They will be painted as a suggestion for a small holiday card.
It’s a workshop about different textures and the holiday spirit, it’s also an opportunity to celebrate the joy of life and challenge yourself one more time this year.
