“Even the tiniest of flowers can have the toughest roots”
S.Mullen
This new online workshop is focused on flowers, the foundation of my work: I want to keep on exploring different flower shapes, petal arrangements, color mixing and developing expressive ways of depicting them.
I will paint 6 different watercolors (5 in the first session and one in the second session): the long vining Wisteria, the delicate Fuchsia, the ruffled Parrot Tulip, the stunning Cornflower, the white Almond Blossom and the colorful Zinnia.
I like to work with hard and soft edges and the way I save or restore the white of the paper identifies my artwork so I will emphasize how to add more or less water to the painting process and the right moment to lift out pigment and add more contrast. It’s about timing and experience and I want to share it with everyone.
I will demonstrate, step by step, how to draw each flower, my color mixing for each one, how to suggest the overlapping petals, and how the background can relate visually to the subject in the foreground.
This workshop is a two days format: the second day will be a mentoring session. You can send one painting to my email from August 9 to 12 (by morning). I will clear your questions and provide some feedback about your paintings on August 12 (the second session).
Would you like to learn how to paint flowers wet on wet, loose, with a powerful background and strong lifting out effects using the white of the paper?
Join my new painting journey and let’s paint vibrant and colorful flowers!
