What is the main subject of this new workshop?
I think wet on wet painting is the essence of my technique, so I will go deeper now: I will paint multiple florals and one small window with bougainvillea. This workshop is about stretching your boundaries as a watercolor artist.
I will paint without any preliminary sketch on soaked paper: I want to paint five loose florals and, for the first time, a door/window with bougainvillea, wet in wet on fully soaked paper. Flowers are still the main subject of this workshop but let’s see how I will add a few architectural details without any preliminary sketch!
It is a risk but, if we do not take risks painting wet on wet, we would never know what could have been!
I also want to introduce a new workshop format with two sessions: The first one (3:30) will be a teaching session with all demos and explanations as usual. The second one (1:15) will be a review/critique session.
I have been teaching all over the world for the last 20 years. I believe that my mentorship experience can help you to realize your potential as an artist: my second session (critique session) will be developed to maximize your learning experience. I will demonstrate what could be improved in your paintings. It is a live session based on clearing questions.
After the first session (July 20), you will have two days to paint something. You can send one painting to me until July 22 (evening). On July 23 we will have one more meeting. I will show you what can be improved in all participant's paintings. It is not only an individual critique: I will show you, best alternatives for your paintings (background, color mixing, composition) using my watercolor paper/ brushes and paints. You can also ask me questions about the whole painting process. I want to maximize my feedback.
You don't have to take part in the second session. You don’t have to paint anything. If you want you can just take part and watch my critique. It’s up to you.
