Hello everybody, greetings from US!
Workshops in New York, US - Last month, July
Thank you so much everyone who attended my workshop in Balmville, New York. The workshop venue, a great studio with a view of Hudson River was amazing. Everything was so well organized by Marguerite Meyerson (Riverside Art Workshops), I just want to say thank you! If you want to join my 3 days workshop next year, save the dates: July 31 - August 2, 2018. More info or registration please email Marguerite, firstname.lastname@example.org
About my Technique/ My Personal Experience
I wrote about my art supplies in May and June (my colors, brands, brushes, palette and watercolor paper). Now I will show a couple of tools that are very important in my work. Let’s see:
- Drawing: before starting adding colors I make a very light sketch with a water soluble graphite. I love this graphite called Graphitone by Derwent ( Light Wash, 2b). Once we start adding water and pigment, pencil drawing is going to be washed away. Just one more tip: I avoid touching the paper as some oily fingerprint can affect the paper surface and the pigment is not going to be absorbed properly.
- Eraser: sometimes if my drawing is too strong or if there are too many details ( I don’t like to draw everything, I just sketch the main shapes) I use a kneaded eraser. I can mold or compress it into any shape so I can erase tiny details. It doesn’t leave any residues behind so I really love it.
- Pipettes: I like to work with my pigments fresh and creamy so I drop some fresh water if some pigment looks dried on my palette. A pippete dropper is really useful for me.
- Paper Towel: it’s so important in my technique. I lift out pigment with paper towels and I use paper towel to get the desired wetness in my work: If my brush is loaded with too much water I won’t be able to play with values. Everything is going to have the same value and we can have a boring composition.
